Electro-acupuncture

What is electro-acupuncture?

Electro-acupuncture is an acupuncture technique that pairs of acupuncture needles are attached to a electro-acupuncture stimulator, which generates electric pulses. It has been used for a wide array of conditions, especially for musculo-skeleton conditions thanks for the good result of pain relieving.

Difference between Electro-acupuncture and traditional acupuncture

Both uses the same points as traditional acupuncture.

Electro-acupuncture use electric current to stimulate the acupuncture points. While traditional acupuncture don’t use electricity current, but only with traditional acupuncture techniques. It manually stimulate the needles and promote Qi (vital energy).

Generally two needles are selected to connect to the stimulator. A few pairs of points can be stimulated at the same time. After you get the “De Qi”(de Chi, means “get or feel the energy”) sensation, your acupuncturist will turn on the electro-acupuncture stimulator.

You may feel the electric pulse. Based on what condition you have, we can help adjust the frequency and intensity of the electro-acupuncture stimulator.

Electro-acupuncture FAQ

Frequently asked questions of electro-acupuncture
Does electro-acupuncture hurt?

Not at all.

Same as traditional acupuncture, you may feel the “De Qi” sensation (reported as pressure, slightly tingling sensation). Once the electric stimulator has been turned on, you may just feel the pulse without any pain.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Not really.

Many people shy away from acupuncture just due to “the fear of needles”. However, unlike the injection needles everybody knows, acupuncture needles are very fine and smooth. The gauge of some needles we used in our clinic can be as little as 0.12 mm. Most people feel no pain when we insert the needles in the body.

When the needles are in the Acupuncture points, you may feel slightly sensation as either pressure, tightness, numbness or a sensation of heat. These sensation are called “De Qi” (“Feeling the Energy”). With the “De Qi” sensation, we can help adjust and re-balance the energy in your body.

Actually, most of our clients feel calming and relaxing during and after the treatment.
